Haiyue rock Introduction

Introduction
The Haiyue rock is located in the northern of Shaxitulou villiage, in Zhangpu county.  The Haiyue rock which  faces the sea and backs o­n the mountain. is 40 km away from the county. In Song dynasty, people built the Buddha dado o­n the cave. In the night, the Buddha which faces whith the sea is in the moonlight, so it acquired the name “haiyue rock”. The haiyue rock temple was  built according to the natural cave. The roof is a huge stone which is 31 long, 13 m wide. A picture of Tathagata buddha is carved o­n the stone wall in the temple. When the morning sun shines the buddha, the sight is called “richukuichan”. And in the night of Mid-Autumn day, the moonlight reflects to the buddha’s chest by the water in Yangjiao pond, the scenery is called “yuezhaochangxin”.
Zhangzhou, situated in the southwest of Fujian Province, bearing the subtropical monsoon climate. It is an area with abundant precipitation and warm climate. So it is fit for traveling all the year round.

In front of the temple, look at the blue sky, blue sea, the wave, you will enjoy the magnificent sight. There are over 60 carved stone which is made according to the natural scenery in the rock. Of these, the Gongdequan writen by Liutinghui in Ming dynasty is the most famous. The  temple has 108 carved buddha, the craft is very fine. And there are green trees around the temple, the enviorent is very quiet cool, it is known as Dongtianshengjing..
