Kong Xiangxi’s Compound Maps
Located in the Taigu Normal University, west of the Wubian Temple in the Taigu City, the Kong Xiangxi’s Compound is the existent best preserved also the biggest compound with the architectural style of the mid-Qing Dynasty in Taigu City. It is a key cultural relic protection unit of Shanxi Province.
Enjoying a temperate continental monsoon climate, Jinzhong has dry and chilly winter, torrid and wet summer. Its annual average temperature falls around 9 degree centigrade (48.2 degree Fahrenheit). on the whole, its rainfall mainly concentrates on summer. As to the spatial distribution, the rainfall in southeast Jinzhong is more than that in the northwest. Autumn is the most ideal period to visit Jinzhong.
As a cradle of the Chinese culture, Jinzhong's brilliant folk arts have been developed into major tourism attractions. It was named "the hometown of folk Shehuo". Shehuo Festival takes place during every Spring Festival here. Shehuo, evolved through history and matured in the Ming (1368-1644) and Qing (1644-1911) dynasties, is a kind of variety show performed outdoors by local farmers during the traditional Chinese Lantern Festival (the 15th of the first lunar month in Chinese calendar). The show includes stilt-walking, horse-riding, lion dances, dragon dances, land-boat yangge and man-carrying performances. It is a big event to local people, and is believed to bring hope and good luck for the coming year.
