Shenzhen Introduction

Shenzhen is located in the southern portion of the Guangdong Province, o­n the eastern shore of the Pearl River Delta. Neighboring the Pearl River Delta and Hong Kong (located just south of Shenzhen), Shenzhen's location gives it a geographical advantage for economic development. In 1980, the first Special Economic Zone of China was built in Shenzhen. From then o­n, Shenzhen become a highlighted city of China, o­ne known for its rapid economic growth.
Shenzhen is a modern financial and commercial metropolis in China; however, it lacks the history and natural beauties which attract visitors to many of the other big cities in China. In recent years the city has compensated by developing excellent theme parks and man-made scenic spots. These modern facilities have succeeded in drawing in crowds of tourists, eager to check out the contemporary attractions.
Each year, more and more people come to Shenzhen to try to find employment. As a result, the city has become increasingly crowded. The local government has recently made city-wide environmental improvements in an effort to combat problems caused by overpopulation. In recognition for these improvements, Shenzhen was awarded the Garden City Award in 2000.

Shenzhen Traffic

Located o­n the Pearl River Delta and close to Hong Kong, Shenzhen is a city with the most highly developed and also the busiest transportation system in China. Rapid economical development following the creation of the first Special Economic Zone of China, Shenzhen has paid specific attention to the perfection of all aspects of its public transport. Shenzhen is now the o­nly Chinese City having an aeroamphibious transportation system.

The city has its own international airport, serving a multitude of daily international and domestic flights. Shenzhen is within easy reach by air from China's other tourist centers. In addition, the airport also provides a frequent shuttle service to Hong Kong as well as a passenger liner to Hong Kong and Macau everyday.

The high-density system of overland transportation which includes a large number of trains and buses provides the main passenger communication in Shenzhen. However, as more and more migrants arrive in the city, the passenger transport into Shenzhen is under considerable pressure. Similarly, large increase in population exerts a lot of pressure o­n the city's urban transportation also even though Shenzhen has a large fleet of city-buses and taxis as well as a convenient subway system. Fortunately, the local government is continually doing its best to relieve the traffic congestion, and already some obvious results have been achieved.

Another feature of Shenzhen is its numerous ports providing for both passenger transportation and freight. Not o­nly China's largest cargo port, but also the largest passenger port is located in Shenzhen. It provides visitors with o­ne more mode of transport between the Chinese mainland, Hong Kong and Macau.

zhen Bao'an International Airport serves many domestic and international airlines. It is very easy to find buses and taxis at the airport.
 To go to downtown Shenzhen, you can either take a taxi or the direct coach 330. The coach service runs every 20 minutes, from 7:30 a.m. till the arrival of the last flight. Its destination is Hualian Mansion in Futian District, and will be extended to the railway station in Luohu District

Shenzhen Festivals

The most interesting festival - litchi festival every year from June 28 to July 8, during the festival, Shenzhen will have various themes for the litchi to the economic and trade and cultural recreational activities. And the city people have a traditional practices, whenever this is the time Chan Ming Li Xiang, to friends and family and go for fresh litchi Park, that is, try to pick, you often fight with each other, very lively scene . Litchi Festival has now become the Shenzhen City Festival.
